Dometic single zone stat

I prefer a 1 degree furnace differential. No need to tell me why I should use 2 degree.

Hereโ€™s the issue. My system is properly initialized, but if I try to change the differential to 1 degree it loses itโ€™s initialization and i get the click, click, click.

When I reinitialize the system, it reverts back to 2 degree. Catch 22.

Any ideas.

A system initialization will need to be performed by the installer after

โ€ข Make sure the Single Zone LCD thermostat is in the Off condition.

This completes the initialization.
The furnace On/Off temperature differential should be set at this time.

That sounds like nonsense.

It is nonsense and the furnace runs MORE to overshoot the set temp - a lot more.
Tens of millions of dollars and research by universities, utilities and companies like Honeywell have developed those systems and have proven they save energy.

Thanks Doug for your responsive answer. I have the manual and am programming it correctly. For the past 4 years, I have been able to set the 1 degree differential without issue. This is a recent change.

Now by the way, 2 degree differential causes longer less frequent running time vs 1 degree more frequent but shorter running time.

1 * 2 = 2 or 2 * 1 = 2. Exact same thing.

It works the same as an anticipator!
Closer to the set temperature the more the system will run.

Is it new? Sounds like a defect or fail.

Is it set right at temp? Set it a few degrees up and let it run a minute.
Mine has been fine. Although I have mine at 2 degrees to reduce cycling and save battery.

Do you have the original or the new comfort touch?

Does the manual say anything about this?

There's no reason you should want a 2 degree swing. The most efficient stats, Energy Star rated, keep it to less than a degree and save energy doing so.
THey aren't cheap but a good residential ES rated stat will do a much better job. You just have to add a switch for AC fan speed or leave it set to high.
