I have one fitted to my system and the difference is HUGE..
Kudos! This really is the best way to go IMHO. It will start a compressor with lower line voltage than simple upgrading of a capacitor. Also these things VASTLY increase the life of a capacitor. Bookmarked the link!
mxwanderer: Just wondering if you mean increase the life of the genny?
We like the yamaha 2400iSHC for its portability and low noise level, 4 yr warranty, and price (1200). However, it would be nice to be able to turn the eco mode on and off, as well as a bypass to the inverter with a 220v outlet.
Although we have already bought and installed the DuoTherm hsk, we might at one point consider the smart start if the impact on the genny cannot be mitigated. When the compressor kicks on the first time or if we jack up the cold thermostat during operation, the genny goes very low and almost sounds like it's going to stall, but never does! And doesn't overload as well.
However, inside the tt, the full brown out conditions are very evident...the a/c struggles and goes very low for about 2 or 3 seconds, the m/wave shuts off and start up again, etc...
Doesn't make me feel to good especially if the fridge is on auto at that time and choosing to run off a/c.
Don't like the impact to the electronics at all, so if the new auto electric place tells me the hsk is in fact connected correctly, I will probably go with one of these, as mentioned above.
thanks again to all for the very helpful directions to look at, suggestions, and advice
gratefully appreciated
cheers
Bob
