We are looking at a campground near Tampa, Florida called Happy Traveler. Their nightly rates are posted on their web site but it also says + tax and electric. We have never had to pay for electric on a 1 week stay (thought that was a monthly or seasonal thing). We would be there in July so the air conditioner will be running 24 hrs per day. We have a 36 foot long trailer with a 15000 BTU air conditioner.What could we expect to pay on a daily basis for electric in the trailer down in Florida.Thanks.

research state rules on electric fees. The camp likely pays commercial rates, so higher $/ kw than you at home. They may pass this on regardless of length of stay, as an addition to site fee, in the same way as cable tv, wifi, or any other elective amenity. Think of that as proper, you could use a good deal less power than the next door huge rig. The camp is trying to manage costs relative to use.

Why don't you call the camp ground and ask them?

I'm not complaining about the fee, I'm just wondering what it costs for electricity on a daily rate. I figured a full timer could give the amount pretty easily.

The campground should know what people pay on the average. My usage would be different than yours. Not sure what mine would be running 2 ac's 24x7. I would guess mine would be around $300 per month or more. I never do weekly's in warm climates. Sorry I can't be more help. Jerry Parr

Figure ten or fifteen dollars a day. You know your 240 watt refrigerator and 900 watt hot water heater will be on as well as a hundred watts or so of battery charge lights, TV and whatever.

If the AC is using 2.1 kw on high fan as you state, what’s consuming the other 1.9 to 3.7 kwh that results in a demand of 4.4 to 5.8 kwh?

As a generally loose rule you can plan on about $3-$4/day. More if you use your A/C, electric water heater, electric heaters, etc and less if the weather is milder and you don't need to run those hogs.

I stayed there during last summer and my one A/C my electric was between $60 -$80 for the month. They read the site meter and charge the TECO rate.

I would double check with them concerning paying electric for only a week stay, I thought it only applied to Monthly stays.

Plus majority of the spots are fully shaded, try to choose one of those to help keep your unit cool.

A 15K AC uses 2117 watts running on high fan. That will be around 4.4 to 5.8 KWH used an hour.

We have the new so called smart meters out out here in cal they keep track of your use by the minute and up load it to the power company. So it would be easy for the campground owners to see your usage. For what its worth my ag well meter run's me 22 cents a kilowatt plus stand by fees. Were the residential rate is 15 cents.
