Extra 50 amp extension?

I carry a 30amp extension like many others. I do use it 3-4 times a year. I also use it instead of the 50 amp if we are over nighting someplace and don't need to run the A/C. Much lighter and easier to handle.

Bought ours, and paid too much, at a campground where we had to park too far from the power post to get level. We could have moved closer, but the results would have been pretty bad. Have carried it ever since, and use it all the time when parked at our S&B.

We carry a 35' extension cord (50 amp) with us, we've used it once last year and once this year. Glad I had it along. You could get away with a "lighter" 30 amp and a dog bone as others have mentioned, just sayin.

I carry 2 50A extensions. I have needed one of them for a couple of different campgrounds in the past 11 years. I need both when staying at relatives & friends places.

Bring it with you. If you find yourself in a position where you need it, you don't want to have to buy another. But it's almost guaranteed that if you have it, you won't need it.

I understand the weight rating concern, but if 25 lbs. makes a difference, then I think you need to address other issues.

I bought a used Motorhome two and a half years ago, from a dealer. The former owner left 2 50 amp extensions in the coach. I can not think of any reason where they would use the coach cord and 2 extensions. Any way I carry one and leave the other one home. I spent 10 months touring the US driving 12,000 mile and have never been to a site where I had to use it. But as others have said, "happy wife happy life".

We have one and have use the cord several times. When we arrive at a campground with a great view but would be lost if we backed into a site, I pull in forward. Then the reach is too great for the hookups so we have long lengths of everything, power, water and sewer. This allows us to enjoy the view out of the front of the motorhome. Have never had a park complain about us being forward in a back-in site YET! Normally I have looked at the campground ahead of time on GoogleEarth so am well prepared before we arrive and have picked the site/sites I wish to camp in. Also have used the second cord to use my cheater box to build a 50 amp service out of two 30 amp service should the adjacent site is vacant and only 30 amp is available.

I don't leave home without it, only used twice but worth it's weight in gold when needed.

3 years and used it twice, IIRC. Glad I had it when I needed it.

It gives us the option of parking backwards in the site for a better view which we have done.
