F 250 Key Fob Probs?

Bet I an not the only one. F 250 2012.

I have changed bats in both key fobs used for mainly locking and unlocking the doors. They do not work worth a flip. Got to push the button many times and then all of a sudden the truck wakes up and the locks work remotely.

Anyone cured this ailment without re financing the stick home?
  • No problems with my Fords, but my Malibu which is a work car had that issue and the dealer wanted big $$. I found the pad on ebay for $4 and it works like new.
  • odd, haven't had any problems at all with mine. I've never even had to change the battery.
  • should be noted
    these are light weight use
heavy strong button pushing should not be used, only wears these things out
just enough pressure to depress the button is all that is needed

still this type of construction does wear faster than larger metallic switches
  • One of mine for my 2003 Silverado was working intermittently. Dealer wanted about $90 for a new one plus about $130 more to program new remote. Bought a new fob at Ace Hardware for about $65. Came with instructions for programming. The guy at Ace helped. Immediately the second fob didn't work anymore. Figured out both had to be done simultaneously. The guy at Ace redid the new one while I redid the second. Everything fine now.
  • Similar issue with my GMC. I Google how to reprogram my remotes, followed step by step and issue was solved. Been 3 years with no issues
  • You can buy the magnetic strips which are part of the key module very cheap.. I have also seen a small strip of aluminium foil placed inside the key module for temporary fix... good luck
