Fantastic Fan in Bedroom

In my 34TBOK I have a roof vent. I do not have the 2nd A/C as I only have 30 amp power at my seasonal site. How hard would it be to wire in a second fantastic fan? The unit is wired for a second a/c. I find the bedroom gets quite warm and does not cool off very quickly. Any suggestions or how to's?
  • The 2nd AC wiring is 110V, the Fantastic Fan needs 12V - that will pose a problem for you.

I have a Gulf Stream park trailer with a queen bedroom in the front and in the rear. The front bedroom would freeze you to death while you would bake in the rear bedroom. So, I installed a vent with a damper on it instead of the directional vent that came installed. It really helps.

We also set a fan up in the kitchen blowing back to the rear bedroom at night. That helps as well.

I ordered my camper and got a Fantastic Fan installed in each of the four vents...I can move some air through the camper!
  • I installed one in mine before I got the second AC. I fished a wire from the closet where the TV is mounted. Could have done it off a light which was closer, but didn't want it wired via switch, but hot all the time. Did the same in the bunkhouse when i moved the fan when the AC was installed.
  • Not that hard at all to fish a wire from somewhere near. I did one in my neighbors MH thru a solid foam ceiling to a nearby light. From there they had put in a tube thru which I was able to but in an additional wire so it wasn:t on a switch. Look hard. I;m sure you can figure out how to get it wired.
  • I'm kind of confused- are you wanting to run the A/C *plus* use the Fantastic to keep the bedroom cooler? That's really not a very good idea. A Fantastic will draw in outside air quite well, so if you just want a breeze or outside air, just run the fantastic you have but open a bedroom window- you will get a breeze in the bedroom.
  • No I do not have the second a/c. I want to install a fantastic fan in the bedroom roof vent to try and cool it off better when I am not running my main a/c. I want to be able to bring cool air in from the outside with it or exhaust the warm air. So a fan that goes both ways.
  • I used the AC (120v wires) and disconnected then spliced into 12v power center to power my FF. We hardly ever used the AC but use the FF alot.
  • We have a fantastic fan in our bedroom for the same reason. Our rig is wired for a second AC (50 amp service to the RV) but we chose the fan.

Deluxe Fan-Tastic Ceiling Fan Vent with Thermostat... 3 speed, draws air in or out and a thermostat.

It was installed by the RV shop before we picked up the RV.

It does help to cool the RV down. I would get one with the thermostat - we set it and it shuts off when the bedroom cools down and turns on when it gets warmer

To install one I think the old vent will need to be removed and the Fantastic unit installed. I you do it yourself I would purchase the tools and caulk made for working on RVs.

You should be able to get power from the ceiling lights. That is what the RV shop did on our last rig - fan power came from the bedroom light switch. On our present RV there may have been power in the "area" because we do not need the bedroom lights to be on to power up the fan.
