I bought a ratcheting tool from Lowes for around $40- it works great for crimping but doesn't remove. It's a LOT handier than the pex crimp tool I have.

FWIW, I use a dremel or plain hacksaw on the pex rings- but cut diagonally, and don't go all the way through, rather cut a deep slot and pop it open with a flat screwdriver. You don't risk damage to the tubing this way.

Wanted to mention there are plastic probably PVC or CPVC versions of the metal Shark Bite fittings. Might be nicer for PEX.

Do most of the Oetiker Crimp Pliers cut as well as crimp?

This automtive version looks like my Lisle tool. It doesn't cut an old clamp away. Only crimps the new one. Hard to see from a photo, but it has a little anvil above the pivot pin. That keeps the part you crimp, from folding into a peak instead of collapsing from the two sides.

I might cut the PEX band with a Dremel tool, then crimp Oetiker clamps with my Lisle.

Sharkbite connectors also work on PEX, and might be an easy reassembly option if there's enough room.

I used pex 'rings' on my RV as that's what it came with from the factory, just like at home.

If you have enough slack, cut the pipe and clamp off as the leak could be from the pipe, not a loose crimp.

You probably have the "official" PEX crimps. It's very common to see Oetiker clamps used instead, and they work just as well.

To remove a PEX ring, I'd get out the Dremel with a cutoff wheel and go slowly to avoid cutting into or melting the tubing. They do make a tool, but it's expensive and you have to cut the tubing and lose an inch of length.

my crimp does not look quite like that, there is no adjustment or bumps or dimples. i would post a picture but no matter how small i crop the photo it is still to big
