- johnhicksExplorerRinse after regen is on the ground (or drain) at a controlled slow rate, then output is switched to coach. If coach water is salty then rinse is being done into the same coach output.
While it would "work," salt water into the coach is undesirable. Done properly you'd have a detectable salt level in the coach for a short time but probably wouldn't taste it.
The procedure is to add salt to the unit and let it sit there under pressure for an hour or more. Then rinse (onto the ground) for a half hour.
Using Softcheck strips I've never gotten total hardness below 25ppm but that's lots better than untreated water. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer II

I'm afraid you are mistaken Bill.
After the salt sits in the softener for 30 mins (regen) then you flush, the water will be very salty for a few mins while flushing it.
I am not wrong. He says that salty water is coming through the coach lines and out the faucets. That means he did not do the regeneration properly. Done properly, you would not have salt water in the coach at all. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

I always rinse to GROUND vs into my RV Plumbing Lines.
So water at faucets should be good if regen procedure done correctly UNLESS resin needs replaced - Boon_DockerExplorer IIIJust a thought Dave.
If the water you have been softening has iron in it that will eventually coat the resin making it useless for softening. Salt will not clean the iron off the resin. You can buy resin cleaner, but it will cost you almost as much as new resin would be. - Boon_DockerExplorer IIII'm afraid you are mistaken Bill.

- TimnJoExplorerHow old is your softener, how many gallons have gone through it?
Our sticks n' bricks whole house softener is still going strong after more than twenty years and many thousands of gallons with what I'd guess is about ten times more resin.
Tim - hellbird503ExplorerI have tested it with a strip, still hard. So much salt comes out of the faucet the water is very cloudy for a while. It didn't use to do that. I guess the answer as suggested is new resin. Just didn't want to buy new resin and have it be another problem. Thanks to everyone for your help, Dave

The slat (brine solution) reacts with the minerals that have been attracted to the resin....removing them during the soak period of the regen then you flush the minerals/excess brine solution out.
Resin is now ready to attract more minerals until covered.
IF water is remaining hard or becomes hard shortly after regen....new resin. - ktmrfsExplorer II

flow pur stopped working. I regenerated it, no help. When I add salt now it just goes through the system and out the faucet. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, Dave
you should get salty water when regen is done during the flushing cycle.
Have you checked the water softness with a test strip? If not do so to verify if it is working or not.
