Ford E350 Check Engine light

Hi All,

My 1992 Jamboree on ford E350 Check Engine light comes on when idling or driving slowly for a long time. It will come off when I accelerate. Temperature and oil pressure OK. Fluid levels OK (maybe a little overfilled transmission oil). Runs fine.
What could it be? Should I be concerned about it?

Thanks,
-Guy
  • If it's an OBD-1 then call before you show up as I think some/many no longer provide free code readings for OBD-1 vehicles.

Pretty sure a '92 (maybe even a 1991 chassis) is still OBD-1. Can be read with an inexpensive "reader" (as opposed to the computer-chipped "scanner" for OBD-2), or even with an analog voltmeter. Trapezoidal looking connector under the hood.

But the earlier OBD doesn't store all the info the second generation does.
  • You will need an OBDII scan tool to see what the fault is.
