Freezer icing up

Fridge and Freezer work great however, the freezer seems to be icing up. It's not over packed (lol the last few trips) and is set at 3 out of 5 settings. Fridge temp is at 35-40. Started happening a few months ago and we go a lot. Thanks.

Thanks all for your advise and recommendations. Will try the cotton, flashlight and dollar bill. Hope the cotton works as that would be a simple fix otherwise hope we can get another seal. BTW it is a Dometic but I won't know what model until we head over to storage in a few days. Thanks again, Kathie

Bad Door seal if it's overly icing also it ices up more the less that is in it.

Every time you open door moist air enteres, the moisture condenses out and freezes,, On your Home Sticks and bricks type residential fridge there is a heater believe it or not which melts that ice and a tube that lets it drain down to the fridge and from there out onto an evaporation tray.

But on the RV absorption cooling unit there is no heater to do that (there is a heater but just around the door seal to prevent moisture there)

(oh and one in the ice maker).

Solution is to check the door seal. if it's good. DEFROST from time to time.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Check the seal with the "dollar bill test".

Set a flashlight in the freezer at night and turn off the room lights.... Look around the door Seal and look for light bleeding out.... That will be the bad spot in your door seal.....

YEP..freezer door seal is not closing fully. Allowing warm air into freezer and it ices up

Try a bungee cord across door to hold closed (after you defrost)

Most seals are not replaceable........mfg. wants you to replace doors
What BRAND/MODEL of fridge.

Sometimes you can reset the seals.

Place a ball of cotton under seal in each corner.
Then warm seal using hair dryer/blower
When seal is warm close door and let seal cool off
After cooled down remove balls of cotton in corners.
Is it time for your medication or mine?
