Fridge help Dometic RM1350SLMX

Have a whining sound, can listen here:

https://youtu.be/3GgHtzFgX4M

Loud enough to hear over TV sound
Fridge vents ti side of trailer
RV tech says it is normal fan sound transfer. There are 4 fans in the upper outside vent, behind the fridge under the fins. It is not noisy there. I can see the fans running.
Is there another fan inside somewhere?
To me a fan makes a humming sound, whining indicates a problem?
Same on gas or electric
Anybody have any experience they can share?
  • If the noise is coming through as Doug suggests you might consider removing the trim on the front and using something like pipe insulation found at the hardware store. Find something small enough or cut it down and simply block the noise from coming out the front or top. It only takes a tiny hole for noise to creep through.
  • put a variable speed control on the fans, you most likely don,t need all the cfm.s the fans are pushing. just a idea.
  • Thx Doug
Di you think the sound is going off the side walls of the vent compartment ?
Could I put some sound reducing board there?
Has anybody done a mod for this?

I will try the test, although the power converter has been removed.
I still don't understand how the sound can be louder inside the trailer than it is outside right at the fans location?
    The link should work now....

It is a speaker box affect. You would be amazed how many customers have your complaint and I turn the fan/s OFF and the noise goes away. And, like you, they just could not believe the fans sounded that loud INSIDE versus outside. Airstream owners (real pita's:B), really complain as they feel their precious A/S should NOT make any noises at all. Doug
  • Here is the sound from the outside. Four fans are in a row behind the plywood blowing straight up below the fins.

  • They do make a whining sound. Especially 4 fans, which indicates the OEM ADDED the 2 extra fans which is GOOD. Sidewall intake and exhaust vented refers need the upper 2 fans. UNPLUG the fan control wire and stop the fans running. IF the sound remains it is NOT the refer, but something else. There are no other fans on a 1350. IF the sound remains, it is probably a Power Converter fan. Doug

PS, remember you have 4 fans running which will increase the noise level rather than just the standard 2 fans that come with the 1350
