- Hank_MIExplorerThat really is a loaded question. I don't have a class C or full side slider but I guarantee you someone has had a problem with one. Just like people have had problems with other sliders, hydraulic, gear drive, cable drive. Someone has a problem with all of them.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI "looked at" designing a 15' slide for Quicksilver many years ago. Too many obstacles. Too many compromises. Waaaaaaaaaaaay too much money to do "it" right.
So now I view large slide-outs with narrowed eyes and a great deal of suspicion. - Chum_leeExplorerFor the same reason you don't see large doors/windows on airplanes (cargo planes excepted), full length sliders are generally a bad idea on motorhomes. In order to build rigidity into the structure, you must build around the "hole" in the structure with more structure than usual. (read heavy, expensive, etc.) The inherent flexibility caused by the hole causes increased deflections in the coach when loaded both statically and dynamically. Those deflections over time tend to cause rattles, leaks, (air and water) and flexibility where you DON'T want it. IMO, it can be done, but, the larger the hole, the more you are asking for trouble. Lets not even talk about what happens in a collision.
Chum lee - rhadley53ExplorerI have a 2008 Jayco 36MS. It has a full side slide. I have had some problems, but not because it is a full slide. I had some micro switches on a slide lock that went bad and had to replace them. I also had a plug for one of the motors come loose and just needed plugged together. I have owned it from new.
- mcheroExplorerIt's typically called a full wall slide. My 39 foot rig has a full wall slide. No issues on thus end.
