I feel like this question must have been asked a million times, but I'm a newbie and can't seem to find the answer. I have a new Wildwood X-Lite 26' trailer, and I was hoping to run the AC off a Honda EU2001 generator. However, I don't see any 30 amp outlet on the honda, and while I've looked at 30 amp RV adaptors, they all seem to need to start with a 30 amp outlet on the generator itself.Can anyone give me the simple answer on this? If I want to run my RV's AC without being in an RV park, what kind of power and adaptors do I need to bring with me?Thanks in advance!

I just bought a Champion 3100/2800 for my trailer. Nice quality, not too heavy (88 lbs, pretty quiet and great price. It should run your AC and other accessories and has an economy mode for longer time between fill-ups. Got it for about $750 on Amazon.

Single Honda 2000 gives maybe 16 amps. A 30 amp connector would be cosmetic only unless you run two in parallel. Dog bone 15/30 adapter is fine. Your dealer, WalMart, or Amazon all have it.Give it a go but it will be marginal at best. Hottest days will be more difficult, high elevation reduces generator power. Need 3000 to 4500 watts to run the air in all conditions.Honestly I am looking for hookups if I need air 24/7.

But FWIW, contrary to popular opinion it is possible to run a 13.5K BTU roof mounted A/C with an EU2000i BUT there are tricks to it ... but it's not "simple". My advice - go with the larger genset.

Your Honda will only produce 1600 watts continously, therefore it will probably not run your AC. You will need a 3000 watt generator, or another 2000i Honda. If you get another 2000,get the Companion and parallel cables.This will have a 30 amp outlet and will give you the full 30 amp service.

Better to go with at least a 3000 watt generator for reliable power to run your AC under most conditions. Honda, Yamaha, and Champion all make inverter generators capable of running your AC. The Champion 3K watt inverter is a good choice and is more economical of the three, why pay through the nose for something you'll use a few times year.

Thank you. That makes sense to me now. It's not a priority to have a/c but if it might work I'd like to know. I've read many posts where it works for some so I wanted to try. Thank you again!:)

I run my 13.5 A/C from a Honda 2000, but i had to put a switch in to disconnect the convertor from trying to charge the batteries at the same time and make sure i am runnign no other 110 V appliances. I also have to run the A/C fan first for 30 seconds to charge the starting capacitor. IN my last RV I had a 9200 A/C and the Honda ran that no problem.

This appears to be the same Dometic 13.5k BTU a/c we have. The LRA (locked rotor amps) is 63.0 amps. This LRA is at high end of the scale for most 13.5k BTU a/c's. Due to the high inrush current requirements for this a/c, chances are you'll need to run a Honda EU3000iS or a pair of EU2000i's with the Eco mode off to reliably and consistently start this unit.

FWIW, not all Dometic (or Coleman) 13.5k BTU a/c's are created equal.

I have had success with the 2000i and Dometic 13.5 AC's. Not so much with a Coleman. Best solution is to camp where AC is not required. I would not by a 2000i to run my AC when a Champion 3500/4000 can be purchased for a whole lot less and will provide almost as much power as most campgrounds.

Here is what I suggest. First try adding a Supco SPP6 starting capacitor to your RV air conditioner. Its about $10.00 and cured my problem with my Yamaha 2400 generator tripping during startup . I'm not sure why the manufactures don't install these in the factory. If this doesn't work you may want to look into a soft start module like the Dometic 4220040. Its rated at 115/60 and the BTU is rated at 5K-18K. This device will lower your in-rush current during startup but runs about $350.00. Call Dometic to check for compatibility. Good luck
