I would like to know what Brand of dash cams some of you use that is inexpensive and are easy to use and don't have a bunch of bells and whistles.
On your Android phone go to settings, Developer Options, Stay Awake set to ON.
When you plug in your phone to charge it won't go to sleep.
Nothing worse than getting in a tight spot & then having your phone go to sleep on ya! LOL - mcheroExplorer

Again, what brands of cameras???? I am seeing ads on Facebook for something called Handy cams and they're 59.95 and you get two. but then, you probably get what you pay for.
yes you do. my first one was one of those with the little flip down screen for about $20 and it sort of sucked. my next one recommended by somebody here was about $50 and it worked OK. my last one was about $250 and also had a rear view module, lane departure warnings, proximity alarms, etc.

IMO I wouldn't have anything larger than a 5" screen. Much larger and it becomes too much of a distraction. That's one of the great things about voice directions.
I am "visual" guy and respond better to what I see, than what I hear.
But regardless, the voice directions can be pretty misleading, especially at big intersections in dense city.
I am standing at big intersection and the voice says "turn right in 100 feet" so I am getting ready to turn into next street.
But when I am in the center of the first intersection the voice says "turn now"
I did not see the question above, so late response.
The picture I posted is from computer reading the camera and using computer maps to point the location.
The small camera not only is showing road in post stamp size, but it automatically turns off the screen after few seconds.
yep, the gps in my tacoma can show in good detail on the 7 inch screen the exact layout of exits so I can visualize exactly what/where the best lane to be in is and I can ignore "make a U turn now" that I used to get from my standard GPSes.

I was asking about the dash cam, however. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIIMO I wouldn't have anything larger than a 5" screen. Much larger and it becomes too much of a distraction. That's one of the great things about voice directions.

get one with a decent sized screen. I went from 4 1/2 inches to 5 inches to 7 inches. unless your smartphone is tablet sized I would consider it to be worthless as a GPS.
