This be my Alternator.
I know reman's are junk. I was able to swap out this alternator in 10 minutes, but I am a bit out of practice as this one has lasted 9 years.
Due to the AC compressor not being aligned well enough, and not willing to expend any more effort in attempting to do so, I cannot use the two V belts, as the outside belt is too loose and will develop god awful harmonics at certain rpms.
So I use one V belt, a little tighter than it likely should be to prevent slippage when damp with a depleted battery, which no doubt contributed to bearing demise.
Well, that and regularly being maxed out. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerWhat is your vehicle again? The longest lasting drive end 6203 bearing I've ever seen was the old Delco 10DN with an external voltage regulator. They used a bearing retainer with felt seal, an open one side bearing, and special Delco Remy hectorite clay based grease. Lots of these bearings went 200,000 miles 15-years without greasing. 4-times the grease capacity.
Honorable Kragen Pep Boys AutoZone "rehashed" alternators use CHINESE bearings. Garbage. Best is Japanese NTN-LUA or made-in-Poland bearings. Be sure to install your replacement reject with Velcro and Wing Nuts. - landyacht318ExplorerThanks, but only one of those appears somewhat similar to my problem connector, but it has 16 pins whereas mine has 14.
I've not had any stalling or No start issues with my ECM or connector since I reflowed the solder on the circuit board around the pins.
The replacement junkyard connector properly DeOxited has been problem free.
My issue now is the bearings in my alternator are shot. Seems O'reilly AP is willing to honor the lifetime warranty given by Kragen but there might be some hoop jumping required.
I kind of want to upgrade to something with more low rpm Grunt, but available funds are too tight, and the VR being internal to the engine computer will just have me take the 5$ warranty replacement and deal with ~32 maximum amps at hot idle speed.
