Honda 2000i gen just quit.

Honda 2000i gen just quit, it was running fine. The night before it did have an overload issue, the light went on, I shut it down and restarted it and it was fine. The next morning I filled it up with gas (overfilled) it started right up after several pulls on the cord. At some point it shut down and would not restart, still had plenty of gas, oil level is fine.....nothing I did would get it going again so I just used my onboard gen.

What could be the issue?
  • Oil level is to top of threads, is it at that level ? Other problem could be water in gas.
  • What does the spark plug look like?

Otherwise you need to determine that it has Fuel, Compression, and Spark.
Need all three to make it run.

Check the oil. Hondas have an auto shutoff switch if the oil gets too low.
  • I'd suspect it's a fuel problem. Just a guess but you might have gotten some bad gas since the unit ran for a time and then quit. I don't believe the previous night's overload condition would prevent the motor from starting.
