Hot Water Heater Issue

Hey all,

New to the RV life and just started full time RV'ing at an RV park with a 2007 class c Jayco Grayhawk. Its been a bit over a month and things were running smoothly but woke up to the hot water heater light off. The switch on the control panel was still flipped but the light within the switch was off. Shower water was ice. Also, the light above the sink wont turn on now either, both developed the same day. I have lights and power elsewhere, but for some reason the hot water heater is down for the count as well as the light above the sink, so must be something electrical I'm thinking. Just had the hot water heater replaced about two or three months back, so not sure what could be the issue? Also strange the light isn't working right above the sink, when under the sink is where the hot water heater is. maybe same electrical issue is effecting both? Any speculation or advice on what could be going on, or troubleshooting ideas on how to even attempt to figure it out? Thanks in advance.
  • I'd guess you have a blown 12V fuse. That may be due to a problem with the light or water heater, or possibly just from old age.
  • Given that RV water heaters are all poorly insulated, you may find that you'll save a fortune in propane by leaving it off unless you are planning to use hot water in the next 15-20 minutes.

Sounds to me like you have a blown circuit breaker or fuse.
  • It may help to troubleshoot your issue if you state whether you were on gas, or electric, and the brand of the water heater.

Plus the model number so it can be determined if it runs on propane, electric or both.
  • After you check 12 v fuses , pull switch panel offand see if a wire came loose. If you are running heater on 110 v then check braker.
