hydraulic cylinders

My trailer has a large hydraulic cylinder used to raise and lower front of trailer. I was wondering if I should take the pressure off of it when in storage.
  • MHs and many 5ers have hydraulic cylinder controlled leveling legs that remain under pressure for long periods of time, That is what they are designed to do.
  • If a ram's chromed shaft is exposed Mopar SYNTHETIC automatic transmission fluid is positively superb as a rust inhibitor that will not endanger seals.

    AKA, ATF +4. :)
  • The rams on the levelers for my MH are chrome plated. They can pit if exposed to rain. Grease them up heavily if they're exposed. The pits rip the seals when they move past them.
  • It will be fine holding it up. Are you sure it's not 12 electric?? I have not heard of HD on the front of a trailer. But then I am old and I don't sleep at Holiday Inns. LOL
  • The exposed Ram only needs to be cleaned off occasionally and prior to retracting with Silicone Spray.
