Hydro Flame 8500-11 Furance problem

Just had to shut the furnace down. It is blowing real hot. The air is so hot that it melted my register vents. & is so hot, you can not keep your hand on them. I read that it is supposed to shut down at 180 degrees, but I don't think it is. Could this be a bad Limit Switch ? Or something else ? Thanks

  • I don't think that it has been bypassed. I have had this 5th for 6 years & the furance has always worked fine.Think I better call in a tech to see what the problem is.
  • YES the 'high limit' switch should kill all power to furnace should temps go over 190*F

  • Yes, the Hi limit switch is stuck CLOSED and is not letting the furnace burner do its normal cycle on and off. Replace the Limit. BTW, I have never seen a furnace limit stick ON in 35 years of repairing RV's. Is it possible someone has bypassed the hi limit and that is why it stays on? Doug
