Improve Your AC Performance

I have a 30 foot travel trailer with 50amp service and a 15k AC. It has never performed as well as I thought it should and two weeks ago we were camping in 100 degree temps. The AC ran all day and only cooled the RV down to about 85 degrees.

After I got home I found a video on another RV forum. It showed how most RV's have air leaks in the AC system and in the AC unit itself. Turns out my AC unit was worse than the one shown in the following video. Plus, once the bottom cover was removed I discovered one mounting bolt was backed off about 1/4 inch, and the other three were barely finger tight. I re-tightened the bolts per the mounting instructions, put the bottom cover back on and turned on the AC. I couldn't believe the great improvement in air flow! This simple fix has eliminated my thoughts of installing a second AC unit in my RV.
