Intellitec Powerline 2004 EMS problem and issue

2007 Itasca Suncruiser with Intellitec EMS. Problem is that EMS control display never shows connected to 50 amp service . It only shows connected to 30 amp service even when connected to 50 amp service. I have confirmed full 50 amp 240 volt connection at main panel. Read where the control board had issues with burned resistors and so I bought and installed a new control board. No change. I have confirmed proper wiring connections to control board.

It acts like the board is never seeing one leg of the 2 hot leads of the 50 amp service. I do not find any dedicated direct wiring to each hot leg to the control board. Does anyone know where the Intellitec control board picks up the 2 hot lead signals so it can detect when connected to 50 amp service?

I also have a PI 50amp hard wired EMS on the incoming power line that confirms both legs connected and shows amp draw on each leg when connected to 50 amp service. I just need to confirm both hot legs signal to Intellitec control board, but cannot see where it is supposed to get it. -- Thanks-- Mick
  • Ok-- You both nailed it. I feel really stupid now. I had the water heater breaker turned off since I need to replace the WH element. Turned it on and all is working correctly. I knew these 2 power wires from the breakers fed the switches in the relays, I just didn't realize it was also their voltage sampling source.

Thanks a lot to both of you!! Seems like I always have to learn things the hard way. Thanks-- Mick

The Intellitec does have to have these breakers ON. Doug
  • 99 PERCENT of the time when an Intellitec does NOT show 50 amp, it is because you do NOT have TRUE 50 amp service. True 50 amp service will have 240 volts between the 2 hot leads. If you do not have 240 volts you do not have correct 50 amp service. If you do have 240 volts between the 2 hot leads, download the manual below. Doug
