Inverter/Converter

Just purchased a 2015 Ellipse 42QD after experiencing travel in a Newmar Ventana for several years. I was accustomed to manually turning on and off of the inverter during times when I wasn't hooked up to electric so that my fridge would run. Of course I wasn't using the generator at the time either.

Now in the 42QD I am not finding as to where to turn the inverter on and off. No switches that I have found !! In reading the manual I get the sense that this function happens automatically in the 42QD, but ref ridge doesn't come on and I am concerned since I plan to travel from the east coast to the west in a few weeks.

Appreciate some creditable advise to help me or simply ease my mind...

Thanks, :h

If you do not have the owners manual section 6. Doug
Also, It is called an INVERTER/CHARGER
Converters are separate appliances and used when they do not have a Inverter/Charger.

Great but nothing seemed to happen when I tried that bottom so with wife in panic mode I just quickly got reconnected to shore power....

What that usually indicates is, THERE IS NO BATTERY POWER to the Inverter. The Inverter has a 225 to 300 amp DC fuse in line from the battery to the Inverter. You need to find the Inverter and verify the Inverter Has 12 volt power on the 2 large Battery cables connected to the Inverter. Or, the Inverter is malfunctioning. FYI, There is ALWAYS a Inverter ON/ OFF switch. Doug

Most RVs don't have an inverter. You may not have one. When not plugged in do any 120 volt devices work? Do any of the 120 volt outlets have power?

I will venture to say that any RV that comes with a residential fridge also comes with a inverter. These are not whole house inverter but dedicated to the fridge.

not just the fridge. usually the TV/entertainment options, the microwave and a couple of outlets...one in the bedroom and one or two up front. at least that's how our MH is wired.

Locate the inverter. Write down the make and model number. Google it. Check the inverter manufacturer owners manual.

Some inverter have built in automatic transfer switches.
