I have a Vector Maxx-SST VEC062 700w-1000peak inverter that is now only putting out 94v. Input is 13.6v, short (16")8g leads to the converter and batteries are good, all on and connected to shore. Measured with my Fluke True RMS meter, it will go up to 98v with a load (hair dryer on low). Is there any adjustment for the output volts?

Is there any adjustment for the output volts?First of all it looks like your meter, or user, has a problem.Your battery(s) are 12.6 to 12.7 volts when fully charged, so a 13.7v input from battery to inverter is impossible. That could mean that your AC output voltage reading was also incorrect.Did you use the clamp-meter to check the amps going from battery to inverter under load? Was it anywhere near the expected current for the hair-drier?I would start by replacing the battery in the Fluke and checking against your stick-house 120v ac outlet. Also check your house-battery voltage now that it had a load on it.

If on a gen or shore power would the conv have that voltage @ 13.6?

The converter would output would output 13.2v (maintaining) or 13.6v charging battery, but then the OP would not need to run the inverter. He would have 120v ac for use.By the way my favorite test bed is a 300 or 500 watt Halogen trouble light. They are cheap and if there really were low output voltage the bulb would be dim, and nothing important would be damaged from under-voltage. Also; very easy to calculate the amps needed for the light.

He said he is on shore power for the inverter's input voltage.I have the 2000w version of that MSW inverter and there is nothing in the manual for trouble shooting low AC output. Seems like you get AC out or not. The voltage looks like a non-RMS meter reading, so maybe the meter lost that feature? No idea. ( I get 90a with my meter on battery input for the inverter)I don't follow how the voltage went up when under load. You say "now" so what did it used to do under the same conditions?

OK now use a decent non-RMS meter to verify.Never seen an inverter with adjustable voltage.

I can't check sine wave integrity.
A 700w inverter running a hair dryer on low is just under capacity

Need to check sine wave integrity. Most inverters revert to square wave at lower outputs. If so, the correct adjustment "pot" for this critter would have a lid and handles on it

Most stuff runs fine down to 90 volts. Check the brick that you plug in.
Even a small fan is probably fine. What are you running?

Otherwise it is a good excuse to move up to sine wave.

None of this explains why the Vector is at 94v when the same meter in my other inverter (Aims 800 MSW) reads 112v. I just checked the 4500w in my truck and it reads 110v.
I guess it's just gone bad so it'll do no harm to pull it out, take it apart and tinker inside.:h

94 volts is about what you'll read on a standard volt meter when testing a MSW inverter. Probably nothing at all wrong. If you check it with a true RMS meter it should check out in the 110 to 120 volt range.

My go power psw 2k has d.i.p. switch for output power. 3 settings 110,115,120v

I got a good question,....
would anything be wrong w/ it had you not checked the voltage ?
Did you check the voltage because it had a problem ?
If answer "no", then I'd bet it has no problem.

I remember checking voltage on my inverter long ago, and it scared me, don't remember hi or low, but it never had a problem either.

no there is NO adj, that i'm aware of

may or mayNot have a POT on the board, but i doubt the function will be marked

time to replace the inverter BEFORE you damage something
