Kwikee Steps Malfunction

Hi All, As I was backing into a CG spot last week, a member of my camping party (no names, hint: DW) stepped onto our fully retracted 2 step Kwikee step as I had put the MH into reverse to make a slight parking adjustment. You guessed it, there were awful noises made by the step. Now the steps attempt to move, but make a loud grinding noise. In doing some research, there is a motor and gearbox assembly underneath. Is it possible the motor is still ok, but we shelled the gearbox? I am just trying to decide what to order to make repairs. Thanks!

Interesting update. I pulled the motor off the gearbox, saw nothing broken and re-installed, now the motor cyles without any bad noises. I didnt have time to reinstall the pin to the steps, but will do that tonite, and all may be good.

The grinding noise would indicate dammaged gears. Power Gear and many others have replacement parts. The gear box is rebuildable.
