Leaking Gray Water Tank -- Carriage TT ???

I have a 2005 32 FKS Carriage Compass Travel Trailer (yes Carriage made a few travel trailers). The front gray water tank has a leak. I cannot tell where the leak is. I do not think it is where the outlet ASB pipe is. The underside of the holding tank is covered by a sheet of rigid black plastic (ASB ?) with fiber glass insulation between the plastic and the tank. The fiber glass is wet.

I believe that the tank is supported by angle iron (?) and not the ASB sheeting. My question is am I correct and is a simple matter to remove the ASB sheeting and the fiber glass insulation to check for the leak. There are a number of screws holding a inch wide metal strip to support the ASB sheet. I do not want the gray water tank to fall once I remove the ASB sheeting.

What did you use to fix the crack?

This. I looked at you-tube and how people mix ABS cement with ABS pipe shavings to make a mixture but bumped into that website and just bought the stuff. It's the first time I have repaired an ABS tank so I didn't want to experiment.

  • The tank wont fall out. As said, try to get enough of the insulation out of the way or remove enough of the trim and screws so that you can drop enough of the belly so you can see what's going on. I just repaired a abs gray tank that was cracked where the fitting goes into the tank.

Just my opinion...here is what I would do first before moving on to other steps...In your pic...If you look just above the "T" in the word insulation. Looks like the only insulation that is matted up and wet. Looks like there are some bolt there?

The slide valve is 20 feet away at the other end of the TT

No bolt maybe a drop of water see attached photo

Looks like the only insulation that is matted up and wet. Looks like there are some bolt there? Maybe your slide valve? Might be able to fix it with the hole you made without making hole any bigger? After fixing find a political sign (corrablast material) to cover up hole. And stick of these in, also available at Ace hardware https://www.amazon.com/Glentronics-Inc-BWD-HWA-Basement-Watchdog/dp/B000JOK11K
