as for efficiency, from a power consumption standpoint, its more efficient running ANY 12vdc component directly from the batteries than it is running a 120vdc component thru an inverter.. the larger the power draw of the component thru the inverter, the inefficiency increases exponentially..
Or if you want your coffeemaker to finish making a pot the same day. ;)
