Magne tek xonverter replacement

New to rving and this forum..wondering if someone can shed some light on my magnetek 6300 converter replacement..im looking to replace the converter portion with a deck mount progressive dynamic 9260 type charger xonverter..on the 12 volt side there are 2 connections. 1 white and 1 red..my magnetec has 3 ..an additional blue..read somewhere that this blue wire needs to be jumpered at the dc fuse panel to the red lead so as to supply filtered power to the entire fuse panel...can someone verify this is the proper way to install this type of new converter or send me in the correct direction if im totally off base in trying to install this converter this way.

Red and blue connect together, Try a PD 4600 that mounts where the Magnetek's electronics are now, save a few bucks.

Go to www.bestconverter.com and scroll down on the left side to EXTRA INFO
There you will find a link to

Magnetek/Parallax to PDI or PM

And there you will find all your answeers. How to do it.

Instructions for using a 4600 or 9200 are the same save for you don't need to remove the existing electronics (just disconnect) with the 9200

An even easier way

Hook the 9200 to the house side of the battery disconnect switch and simply disconnect the 120 volt power to the Magnetek, an internal relay will bridge the red and blue so long as the Magnetek elecctronics does not have power.

Simplified,.....think of your new 9260 converter as a seperate battery charger, because thats all it is.

Leave the old conv as is, no need to remove it.

Connect the pos & neg from the new conv to your house batts, minimum 6 ga wire, and short as possible.

Last of all, you need ac power to your new 9260.
Just disconnect the ac power (B&W wire) from the old conv section, and run it to a newly mounted ac receptical. Plug your new 9260 into it.
You're done.

Check Bestconverter.com They have all the replacements and what we have found, they will answer questions and give you lifetime support. Unheard of these days.

First: I APPROVE OF YOUR CHOICE.. I got my Motor home in 2005, it came with a PD 9180+ Wizard (the 9200 is identical to the 9100 but has the Wiz built in, mine is plugged in)

I've been trying to find a better one ever since. Can't do it, there is no better one for flooded wet cells. A few as good but none better.

Now: How to "UPGRADE" to the 9200

Find the wire that goes from teh circuit breaker to the CONVERTER portion of yout 6300.. Remove it from the breaker, use teh same breaker to power the 9200 and hook it to either the house side of the battery disconnect or batteries direct.

Method 2: Progressive Dynamics 4600 (Cheaper I think)

Remove the 6300 being sure to label all wires Remove the "Guts" (the electronics behind the fuse/breaker panel) and sell to scrap yard.

Replce GUTS with 4600.. You may wish to add a jumper or the blue and red wires from the existing "Guts" connect together to the 4600

Videos and other instructrions on the left frame at bestconverters dot com (not sure about the S which is why I speled out DOT Either converter or converters Delete spaces of course.)

Yes you jumper. See the notes at the bottom of this for doing a 6300 vs a 7300 (from link on bestconverters.com) Method B.

You don't have to remove the lower portion 6300 unless you want to. The deck mount can go anywhere-- the closer to the batteries the better. Just needs a 120v connection handy.

EDIT--I meant you can disconnect the 6300 converter and just leave it in place, while using your new converter with the old 6300 fuse panel, jumpered. If convenient.

I connected the PDI to fuse box and battery to PDI (it has multiple connection lugs). This way also keeps you from having to change the old reverse polarity fuses. As long as there's a connection to the main power lugs on the fuse panel, your good to go.
It doesn't really matter as long as the fuse box and the battery are both connected to the PDI. They are electrically in parallel.
