maxx fan issue

Hello,
Hoping someone can help out here.
I bought a Maxxfan 7000K with remote last year. Installed it and all worked fine. About 2 weeks ago I went to open the fan with remote and the lid lifted as per usual but didn't stop. The lid then tried to close but only an inch and then re open itself. This continued until I hit close lid, on remote. It closed normally and shut off..
If I open the lid manually it stays open but if I hit Fan on then the same cycle starts and I have to hit Close to make it stop. The fan runs normally with the lid closed.

I contacted Maxxfan and they immediately sent me a new motor. I installed that but the same issue continued. I again contacted them and they have sent me a new arm gear which I will install today. This is just a metal box with no electrical connections.

There has to be some type of sensor that tells the motor to stop at a certain point and then start the fan
There is an electrical board attached which I suspect is the problem with a sensor of some type.

Anyone have an idea. I don't want to rebuild this thing one part at a time. So far Maxxfan has been good with parts etc but I just want the problem solved.

Thanks
  • Hi,
I replaced the new arm gear. Eureka all works well now. Guess it wasn't an electrical issue. Yes Maxxfan came thru.
  • Normally when the lid hits resistance it stops. Same with closing it. Maxx Air is a good company to work with so I suspect they will find the answer for you.
