Mexico Announces Billions Of Tons Lithium Find

A contiguous 250,000 acre area in the adjacent to USA state of Sonora. All flat, all desert, little rain for pollution and ripe for open pit mining

No more reliance on Australia'

Apparently the ore is of the highest quality.

I hope this means a price slash for all types of lithium batteries.

I have been praying for forty years for the elimination of toxic lead and mercury. Lead pollution affects the intelligente of children.

Hopefully the Mexican government auctions off pieces at a time, then uses the proceeds to help the country. Hopefully.
  • This is good news for Mexico, us and the world. Thanks for reporting, Mex.

Might be. The deposits are located in an area with a lot of organized crime, corruption and violence. Lithium mining is very water intensive---water is in very short supply in many parts of Mexico. Lastly, China, who owns/controls most of the world's lithium supply network, is all over this with plans to build a lithium battery plant nearby.

How typical of you to be concerned about pollution. You are a gentleman.
  • It might take som time before any production coming out of there, probably years.

Chinese investment would be a plus. Faster, more efficient development and bigger market exposure. A plus for Mexico.
  • China's fortunes with México declined rapidly with the last election. Even the chinese trawlers are keeping their distance. They arrested a half dozen illegals buying the bladders of the near extinct vaquita dolphins. They rot in a Mexican prison while undergoing expulsion proceedings. The Honeymoon is over.

Anyway it seems a joint venture with the USA is in the wind. Lots of rumors. They have been sitting on this find since 2017. You got me?
  • With the Mexican socialist president, it will be nationalized soon. He's going after the electric company now keeping out private companies and taking over our Mexican 401Ks.
  • From what I’m reading, China has already made a deal with The Canadian Company, Bacarona and Mexico for mining rights. Big problem, high crime area, not much water.
