My water pump quit

I am currently on a trip and my coach water pump quit. The coach is a 2003 Itasca Horizon. The pump does run but does not draw water from the tank. I did run a hose from the pump intake to a bucket of water and the pump will draw water from the bucket.
I am wondering if I have a problem with the electric bypass valve. After I took things apart I found two of these valves. I am nor sure exactly what they do. The solenoid on the one in the back was hot.

The other strange thing was that when the water quit it was right after I started the generator

Any ideas?

Thanks

Now that I have made it home, can anybody tell me if I can just leave this valve bypassed? Also any idea why I had power to the valve all the time?
