If a glass company cuts a piece of glass for you to replace your broken window, they must use safety glass. They need to know that is for an RV. Regular glass will not work with all of the movement. It might be possible to use Lexan to replace the window.
As to why this happened, you may of forgotten to close and lock the window before your departure and the wind along with speed may of ripped it off. This happens on skylight and vent covers if left open unless they have covers on them. JMO
