New Dometic Heat Pump Stinks

On mine with the original analog thermostat I've discovered that just setting the desired temp and turning on the cool or heat mode doesn't always work. Usually on cool mode all I get is warm air blowing. At first I thought I had a problem with the main unit, but I found that moving the temp all the way down to the coldest temp causes the unit to switch into cool mode. After that I can set whatever temp I want and it works just fine, even when cycling on and off at or near the temp setpoint. It may be that I have a bad thermostat or it may be just an artifact of the analog design. I did notice that Dometic no longer offers my analog thermostat and has a digital replacement.

Rather STUPID design of many A/Cs, one motor to spin both the condenser and evaporator fan blades....

The tstat does NOT program, you must check the Roof top control board. Is this the single zone tstat or the 12 button multiple zone tstat? Either way, the upper control board MUST have the HP DIP switch turned on. Doug

What are the usual HP sounds???????? There is no difference. ALL that happens is the coolant flow is reversed to Heat instead of Cool. As others have stated, either the Install was wrong or your reversing valve is having a problem. On the NEW Dometic HP's, the default is COLD instead of heat when you have a malfunction of the Reversing valve circuit. On the 12 button wall CCC system , you have to tell the HP control board it is a HP. There is a DIP switch on the HP control board that must be turned ON to tell it, it is a Heat Pump. I will bet the installer did not turn that DIP switch ON. It is DIP switch number 7 on the board. Doug

Have you put a thermometer up to a vent to check the temperature of the air coming out? If no heat is coming out it could be the reversing valve like Chris mentioned.
