  • The very first mod I do to a camper is to wire all electronic stuff to the batteries. The refrigerator, the furnace, LED lights, everything. Use you converter as a charger only. But this is coming from a guy who the last time I used shore power was in 1988 at fort wilderness FL. And yes that camper, too was all battery with the converter acting as a charger, when it was plugged in. DO NOT EVER TRUST A CONVERTER TO SUPPLY CLEAN RELIABLE 12 VOLTS!!!!!!!

Here's what I am using, so far, so good, happy with them.

    48 smd light panels.

Color is about 3000-3300k in temp, and they are easy on batteries if you are boondocking, maybe 4 to 5 watts per panel, versus 18 for the 921 bulbs they are replacing. Low in heat generation too...

I have used the same now for two seasons, work great, no duds yet. :)
.1 amps each I think. VS stock 1amp bulbs.

This brings up the voltage tolerance of nominally 12V LED arrays. All of our lights are LED and they are, 'China not particularly expensive' and I carry spares. So far none have quit/burned out.
It would appear that it depends and possibly luck of the draw as to what you bought.

  • I wish converters would regulate their output to the rig while charging. Either would eliminate the need for expensive regulated LEDs.
