Thank you everyone, problem solved. Yes, the obvious always bites me. If the faucet in the house had started acting like that I immediately would have taken the screen out, but since I was de-winterizing for only the 2nd time I panicked and thought I did something wrong.
Separate question this brings me to, the amount of white crystally stuff in the screens on the faucet make me glad it plugged so we cleaned it out! It ran fine until the bypass was off and I turned on the hot water so that must have been built up in the hot water heater tank (which was empty all winter, anode out). If there's something else I should be doing to "clean" out the hot water heater tank, advice welcomed.
