Norcold 1200 cooling

Last week in Quartzsite started the refer in 110 heat it promptly ( two days) cooled down to 38 on setting 5. I am now at Bryce canyon at 8000' at setting 8. It will not get below 43. I also have 3 pancake fans mounted on top. Any ideas if altitude will affect cooling? Freezers are cold. Thanks for any comments. Marv
  • love those easy fixes (no problem to begin with)
    thanks for the feed back
  • Thanks for the input. Now I will share the solution. My wireless thermometer gave up the ghoast. I laid a digial meat thermometer on various shelves. Lo and behold it was from 34.1 to 35.5 where it has stayed all afternoon. The original 1200 lasted 11 years. The replacement 1200 now two years old will in fact freeze ice cream. Again thanks for the input. Marv
  • Correct air/fuel ratio means a good hot flame..even if it is a small one like that in a fridge.

Less air......less heat produced........less available heat to transfer to ammonia solution.....less cooling affect.

Above 4500' elevation the efficiency goes down.
  • lp will not burn near as efficiently at 8000 ft, as it does at lower altitudes

i think you will have to live with it , until you come off the plateau

enjoy bryce its beautiful, take the morning trail ride into the canyon and take your camera,
i got some fantastic pictures when we did that ride
