Norcold Defrost Drain

At the back of my Norcold 1200 fridge, there is a drip tray that collects and disperses melted frost from the cooling fins. There is a small drain hose at the bottom of this tray. I assume this same hose goes to the little black bowl at the back of the cooling unit. My drain hose has become plugged. I am considering forcing some compressed air into the hose in an attempt to clear it. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

  • This is a very common problem that occurs when it is hot outside. Look at the bottom of the tube by the black bowl, and you will find at the end of the tube that emptys into the bowl, there is a black nylon "nub". Pull the nub" off of the tube and clear the 2 small holes on it and then replace it into the tube. You'll then be good to go, until the next time it clogs.
  • That black tube normally has an insect guard in the end of it that gets plugged very easily. Pull it out and see if the drain works without the insect guard. I have cleaned the insect guard using s toothbrush and small wire.
