Norcold N62 trips GFI but runs okay generator and propane

My Norcold N62 fridge is working on propane and works with the on-board AC generator okay.
But it trips every GFI in the house when I plug it into household electric outlets.
I think that it might be pulling a little too much current but I'm not sure.

I've traced it down to the electric heating element. By disconnecting the wires to the heating element it will not trip the shore power GFI.
So. . .I'm looking at replacing the heating element.
Is this the correct assumption?

Problem #2: How does the heating element remove. It seems to be stuck and I'm seeing rust in the area.
Any ideas on the fix?
Is this the heating element? And how does it separate from the body?
  • Element slips down into sleeve welded to perk tube.

They can be a bugger to remove......need to wiggle it back/forth while applying upward force.

    CAUTION:
Wiggling it..that sleeve weld job can break if EXCESSIVE force is needed to wiggle element. Then instead of replacing an element.......ammonia leak (NASTY) and broken cooling unit ($$$$$)
