Nothing works when on shore power.

Problem solved! I had a power cord reel in which the brushes we wearing out and arcing. This was causing problems with the transfer and probably led to the transfer switch going bad. I replaced the transfer switch and got rid of the power cord reel. Everything is working fine. I had a problem with batteries not charging during the summer too. I am hoping all of my electrical problems are solved for now.

I've just read the manual for your ATS. It functions independently of the Ems. The logic to determine the source is in the Iota device.

The device is designed to connect the shore power. If it senses generator power, it will switch to the generator input after a time delay. The generator has preference if it is running.

That everything works when connected to the generator tells us that everything from the ATS output is good.

Test without the generator running. The two likely problems are;
1 there is no voltage from the pedestal. The correct place to measure are the terminals, hot 1 and hot 2 power cord in the ATS itself. Get some help if you are not comfortable doing this.

2 if you are sure there is voltage at the input to the ATS, the one of the transfer relays is stuck, or the contacts welded. It will need replacement.

According to the manual, the switch you mentioned is the timer bypass switch and should be in position 1 for normal use. The timer makes sure the generator is up to speed before transferring. If the timer circuit fails, the switch allow transfer as soon as generator voltage is sensed.

I'm may be possible to hear the relays click when you shut off generator power as they drop back to the de-energized position. One relay transfers the neutral, and the other transfers the hot wires.

And there is no clear consensus to it location:

Before ATS: While on shore power, protects ATS and everything downstream in your electrical system. No protection if problem with generator power.

After ATS: Protects main breaker box and everything downstream from issues with either shore power or generator. Does not protect ATS.

We should clarify: Upstream is toward CG outlet (power flows from CG to your rig and its circuits).

Downstream (in order) are: power cord (both ends as well as cord), ATS, breaker panel= two main breakers, individual breakers, wire, appliance/outlet.

The power cord ties into the ATS, so wouldn't the breaker panel be upstream of the ATS?

If you have power at the main breaker box (the one with the two 50 amp breakers at the top then two columns of individual breakers, then everything should WORK.

The ATS is "upstream" of the main breaker panel. The EMS is (generally) installed "upstream" of the ATS.

could you please clarify? If I have poorer at the main, what does that tell me?

I believe the problem is with my EMS. The EMS recognizes that 50 amps is coming in. I will check for power at the main.
