- joebedfordNomad IIYup - I went from an omni antenna to a Winegard crank-up and I'm very very happy with the improvement.
- Captain_HappyExplorerI bought mine off amazon, don't recall the manufacture. Installed it on my Casita trailer. Believe it or not, mine pulls in 2 more channels then Winngard crank-up that's was mounted on the motorhome I use to have. And out towers are 30 miles away.

But a Directional antenna sees farther and delivers a much stronger and often cleaner signal. The Sensar IV is the best RV antenna in the US.
You hams always seem to forget, OTA is DIGITAL. There is really no such things as "cleaner" these days. Either you have a strong enough signal and data that a picture can be created or not. Pixelation is caused by a weak signal not a "dirty" signal.
cleaner could refer to better SNR, less multipath, or any number of other RF variables that affect a transmission, digital or analog. - theoldwizard1Explorer II

Had a TT that had the omni and it was the worst.

About t 2 1/2 years ago we replaced a Star Trek Enterprise looking OTR antenna.
What's an "OTR antenna"? Perhaps you mean OTA - over-the-air? :h
Thanks for your commentary on the RAYZAR Auto ... I run a Sensar IV with SensarPro but it's still a PITA to find stations. If it weren't for the $500+ cost of the Auto here in Canada I'd certainly install one on our own trailer.
Yep, I was thinking of Over The Road vs Over The Air:)!
Appreciate you spotting my SNAFU!!!
I should have also been more clear, that if it were not for the RV Repair facility approaching me on it, I'd have gone only with the PITA OTA Sensar... As, we do OTA viewing as an acceptation.
That being said. To us paying the extra for the OTA arability (Digital vs Analog world.) was a no brainer. If we're in a region with the need for local news coverage due to weather, fires, flooding, whatever - is a cost of being prepared...

I would thing zero however if you are camped with a whole bunch of TV towers say 10 miles out and all around you.. Well then an Omni might be good.

X2 on this. Ye olde batwing with the the wingman add on is the best you'll find in a small portable sized unit. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer II

How many have gone to the omni diretional antenna from the bat wing and been happy with the results? Thinking about making the change
Don't do it. The Batwing is as good as it gets. If you have a version older than the current Sensar IV then you will just want to add the Wingman to get the best reception available.
The only folks who have seen an improvement by replacing their Batwing with an Omni antenna are those who had a non-working Batwing. - SoundGuyExplorer

Less adaptable to further changes in TV frequency usage - Not an expert here but I understand it's not much good on one of the bands (UHF or VHF and I forget the difference) if channels taken out of that band are one day brought back.
As demand continues to increase for more & more space on the airwaves one solution is to move commercial television broadcasting which a few years ago moved from the VHF band to the UHF back to the VHF band. Unfortunately the King TV Jack antenna is optimized for UHF reception and won't do anywhere near as well in the VHF band where the Winegard Sensar III shines. - ScottGNomadMy Arctic Fox came with one. It got equally lousy reception everywhere.
When the roof was getting replaced at the factory, I asked them to just leave it off so I could install a Jack Ant like I had in our last TT.
I get a lot (6 IIRC) more stations at home than I used to.
Haven't been anyplace else yet.
