Onan Generator Acting Up

My Arctic Fox 1150 is a 2012 and is outfitted with an Onan RV QG 2500 LP generator with only 18.4 hours. This past April, while doing its monthly exercising, the generator shut down on its own after about an hour of running. Shortly before it shut down, I noticed it was doing more of a sputtering than a smooth running sound. I haven't really needed the generator this summer but will be heading out on a trip which will spending some time off the grid. I've tried starting it up several times this summer but it only runs a short while than shuts down.

So, I was just working with it this evening and it started up as it always and without any hesitation. But I did notice the same sputtering and then smooth out for a short bit and then go back and forth between smooth running and sputtering. Then, after about eight minutes, it shut down. When hitting the start button just after it shuts down, it would start and then shut off. Any ideas? Thank you
  • Bobbo, I did try starting it from the generator but don't recall seeing a light. I won't be able to look it again today but will look at again tomorrow.
    Thanks
    Ken
  • Just to be clear, did you go open the generator compartment and look at the on/off switch actually ON the generator? The switch in the RV doesn't have that light.

I don't mean to be condescending, but I want to be sure you checked the correct switch.

Does the light on the on/off switch on the generator, itself, flash? If so, it is a code of an error message.

Bobbo, no flashing light on the on/off switch. Thanks
