Onan generator clicking sound

Hello everyone, I have an Onan KYK 4000 generator. After replacing the old fuel pump with a new one, I allowed the hot wire that goes to the fuel pump to touch a metal surface while I was cranking the generator to test it. Immediately after that, I would only get a clicking sound, and the generator would not crank over. The sound sounded like it was coming from the solenoid that is on top of the circuit board. I am hoping I did not fry the board, and hope it is only the solenoid (not a house battery issue). Anyone venture a guess as to what I fried? Thx.
  • Trojan T-105s, 100% charged, guaranteed. Multi-Meter used. Besides, batteries don't go bad one second to the next.
  • I believe it is definitely the solenoid. I touched it with my hand and could feel the pulsations whenever it clicked. The question is, would my simple mistake haven been enough to cause some kind of short? I get this same clicking noise when I attempt to start the generator with the auxilliary switch, as well as the interior switch.
  • Break out volt meter and start back tracking to find fuse. When mine makes a burbing sound...I have one wire to solieoid that wiggles loose and doesn't make good connection (may fixes over time) I just wiggle that wire and started will engage. And you have enough battery juice right?
  • Where would that fuse be located? I have the operator's manual and I see no reference to a fuse.
