Clicking sound when engine starting

Hello
I have a 1996 Monaco Dynasty Class A RV.
When I start the RV I can hear a clicking sound prior to engine starting. Engine does not start up right away due to clicking sound. I am thinking the RV needs the starting solenoid to be replaced. Am I right? If so can someone please inform me where is the starting solenoid so I can locate it and replace it.

    Take a set of jumper cables hook the neg post on the battery to the frame to ground it and try starting it if the clicking go away you have a ground problem. Fought this problem on friends MH in St George Utah in July in 105 temps. Turned out to be a bad ground cable.

    Excellent suggestion. I just recently had this same problem on a Dodge Ram 1500 and the battery cable connections at the bat terminal were rotten. Battery and Alternator were working just fine. Sometimes they are just loose even if you think they are tight so double check again.

    Is it a diesel? If so the clicking and delay could be for the grid heater.

    Follow the battery cables, you'll find it.

    And no, I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, just trying to make it simple.

    Thank you to all. The chassis is Roadmaster which was a Monaco thing. I will clean the battery posts on the starting battery. I would also like to clean the solenoid as suggested but it lease tell me where I can locate it. Thank you in advance.

    I run into that problem on a friends DP coach. His problem was a loose connection on the starter solenoid. All the copper on the solenoid connection compresses over time and gets loose.

    Along with the connectors, The battery or the starter. Need to know if you have a Chevy or Ford chassis
