not sure if this is your case... but my 4000 Microquiet wouldn't start one time...
could hear the starter engaging... but nothing would turn..
Tried jump starting, etc. etc....
nothing...
Turned out that the gen was (we believe) right at Top Dead Center..... and the starter didn't have enough oomph to get past it.
Reached in, and manually turned the gen (at the front that was open and accessible for cooling) then tried the starter again and it fired right up.
just throwing it out there.
