"Timer" is nuts.
The only "time" involved seems to be the "time" you choose to press the on or off button.

Really have to dissect eBay ads. Some of them make 3-card Monte look like a church bingo game.

Yes, simple and it works!

These show up almost every Christmas in hardware stores for Christmas tree lights. I bought several a few years ago and use them for a host of things including outdoor electronics when camping. I started out using them to turn off Christmas tree lights, but I'm always finding stuff that need to be unplugged to turn off & this solves the issue.
