Parallel 2 2200s and a 1000

Just today hooked up a 1000 to my 2 Honda 2200s. Parallels just fine with homemade wires.

Why? Because the 2 2200s weren't quite enough to run air and MW at the same time without gagging and surging. The 1000 fills the bill just fine, and it SO quiet and light.

I think I'd rather have 5 of those than the much heavier 2200s.

You’d think the smallest one would just overload, but it doesn’t.

It's a pretty simple load sharing system. As the load goes up, the output voltage of an individual generator goes down. As the little one approaches overload, its output voltage goes down, causing it to contribute less power to the load. The voltage of the larger generators doesn't decay as much, causing them to carry more of the load. There might be a little oscillation on a load change but the system will eventually find an equilibrium.

It can, for maybe 30 seconds, but it's a struggle. After that things get worse.

Why not turn off the AC for the two minutes you use MW? That’s a lot of generators to haul!
You can't just start up the a/c after 2 minutes - at least not mine. It takes longer to reset - some compressor thing. And I may be using MW several times, not just all at once.

And when it's 90F and I'm cooking the rig heats up pretty fast. Nah, I want that a/c on all the time.

It's interesting that two Honda 2200 wasn't enough to run your AC and MW. But as 2oldman mentioned, by shutting down the AC for a couple of minutes should have preventing having to connect the 1k generator. But good to know the three worked like a charm, thx.

Some microwaves are also convection ovens.
