Perm Propane Tank Connections Query

Greetings!

I have a 2011 Flaggstaff 5th Wheel that I want to hook up a 100 gallon Propane tank to and I need your suggestions on the plumbing:)

We are full time RVers and have a RV pad set up on our kids place for those in between trips lay overs, and want to hook up to a larger tank, that is quick to disconnect for those spur of the moment trips.

The Propane shop tells me that they do not make a simple tank thread connection, that will connect the plastic hand tightening fitting that connects to the 7 gal RV tank to the 100 gallon stay home tank.

They tell me I need to have a "Gas Tee" placed in the main Propane line on the RV to hook up the made up line with a "Quick Connect Fitting".

Is this the best way to hook up my 5th wheel to a larger tank? What have you guys done in this situation?

Thanks for any suggestions, or how toos, lol!
  • A "Tee" and a POL to 1/4" or what ever the regulator input has, hose is the easiest way to do it. Just cap the end of the "Tee" when you don't need the 100# tank. Just turn the regular tanks valves off when you use the 100# tank. So the supplier's suggestion is good.
  • All you need is a long, standard pol pigtai from cylinder to regulatorl to replace one of yours.
  • Don't think the supplier will accept a high pressure connection. In most places a 100 gal (500lb) tank will need its own low pressure regulator. Probably something like the plumbed in BBQ quick connect that is installed on some RVs "might" do. Best to ask the supplier exactly what you need , and will he furnish it.
    Art.
  • Hey Guys!
