- Yes, most of the LP solenoids draw power when the LP detector is on. It should not drain "rapidly".
Make and model of LP detector?
Careful if a CCI was changed out with a Safe T Alert! - larry_cadExplorer IIThe "fail safe" configuration is that the solenoid is "on" all the time except when the LP sensor senses LP, and then it shuts down. Don't know how many times such a system has saved an RV from a fire. Anyone care to comment?
- vacuumbedExplorerThe Safe T Alert isn't the issue. The trouble is that if I want to use my propane at all, fridge and furnace; my batteries will take a hit. In 12 hours, I'll go from 12.7 volts to 10.5 volts. I also have two house batteries. It doesn't matter if the batteries are new or old, they will drain unless I turn my propane off.
- RLS7201Explorer IIIf you have a CCI system, the propane solenoid valve draws 168ma. or 0.168 amps. That's 4.032 amps in 24 hours. If you have one of the newer Safe-T-Alert systems, the propane solenoid valve draws 1.0 amp.
Richard - vacuumbedExplorerMy RV is a 2005 Chinook, but it may have been built in 2004.
It does have Safe T Alert. I miss my old RV. A lot of this technology frustrates me. A lot of newer stuff is over engineered. - vacuumbedExplorerI stand corrected. Looks like I have a 1.0 amp draw from the Safe T Alert. Makes sense now why my house batteries are always dead.
- If the person that installed the Safe T Alert, didn't replace the solenoid, you have found the problem or a contributing factor.
The CCI solenoid was installed in series with the LP detector.
The safety alert has a solenoid output. - vacuumbedExplorerThe Safe T Alert was factory installed.
My propane tank is mounted under the coach next to the driveshaft, thus my tank has an electric shut off solenoid and remote fill.
I can replace the tank with a non remote fill tank, but I doubt the guy at Flying J that fills propane will want to crawl under my RV to fill my tank. - Your furnace is a big user of power.
Refer does not use that much.
What is the model of the Safe T Alert unit?
Does the remote fill switch get shut off after tank is filled? - vacuumbedExplorerI need to check the model.
The switch stays on all the time, if I turn it off then I have no propane.
