Rattle in forward A/C

We recently had both original A/C units replaced with 15.000 BTU Dometic low profile penguin units and the forward unit rattles like a heavy rain is falling on the roof, they checked the unit and found nothing and I looked things over and found nothing loose, any ideas?

Thanks In Advance!
  • Found It!!! Somehow a piece of the aluminum tape they used to install the AC got lost in the vent-box inside the roof of my fiver and was rattling like a S.O.B!, luckily I have my Swift-Hitch Camera Systemclickand after removing the A/C shroud and blower-box I was able to put the wireless camera down the vent to see the problem and badda' bing badda' boom now a nice quiet A/C unit!! I bought that Swift-Hitch Camera System to make hooking up my boat and cargo trailer easy (and it does) but here's another example of how handy it is!

I had that two tubes issue on a Carrier Air V.. Cost me 1,000 (rounded) to replace it when they rubbed holes in each other.. I am not pleased with Carrier.

On the mate to it which does not run as often I made an edit like the above poster so it won't happen.

On a neighbor's Carrier Air V (By the way they are no longer made) he had a "Rattle" on his A/C and trust me you NEED A/C here in the summer.. We investigated and quickly narrowed it down to the blower cage. It had cracks extending into the hub.. Of course it's late Friday. No way are you going to find a replacement at that hour..... Unless you looked in my basement of course (I salvaged everythign I could off the one with the hole in the plumbing,, including the very part he needed) odds of that happening.. Let's just say he needed to make a decision.

Do not buy lotto tickets cause you already used up your alotment of luck today.
  • On my Dometic unit two copper tubes were too close together and would make a loud buzz almost a rattle. These are the two tubes connected to the compressor unit and run along the base to the back of the unit. I discovered the cause when I took the shroud off and ran the A/C unit. With light pressure I pulled the two tubes apart, the sound stopped. I put a piece of high density foam between the tubes to keep it from happening again in the future.
  • Check the Freon copper lines and make sure they are not touching. Some of the new Penguins have that type problem. Doug
