We recently removed a love seat/"bed" from our 5er to switch to recliners. This is on a slide.A friend was kind enough to donate his hold downs and hardware from the recliners he removed but his recliners were on the floor not on a slide.The slide floor is not wood and appears to be metal or some type of composite. I am hesitant to drill into it to mount the brackets. Should I mount the brackets to the slide or go into the wall of the slide on one side and the back of the dinette on the other. Thanks for any input.

I wouldn’t drill through the floor. Think I would just let it sit there. It’s not going any where unless you have an accident and then the movement of a couple of chairs is the least of your problems.

I wouldn't bother to secure them, it's very unlikely they will go anywhere. We had no issues in our last 5th wheel with the recliners moving.

Agree with the good advice above. Test them first on a trip. You may (probably) will be just fine without using hold downs....ours are.

If they're on carpet they won't move unless all you drive on are washboard roads.

mine are no in the slide out and up against the end wall. I do't tie mine down. heck I can hardly move them manually.

Thanks, that has worked perfectly for 1000 miles of I40 so far. I also placed the ottomans upside down on the chairs and ran the strap thru their legs as well. AR has some ski jumps on their bridge transitions, they never moved.

I have fairly light zero gravity recliners. They're not secured and they don't bounce around (much).

What I did when I replaced the sofa with a recliner was to use the existing seat belt to hold the recliner in place, assuming there were seat belts there in the first place.

Oops! Just noticed this is on a fiver. No occupants while underway. Duh!

For travel we rotate our recliners back to back, put a piece of felt between them and tie them together with a strap that circles them just below the top cushion. They are on carpeting but they haven't moved in 15 seasons.
Don't see any need to drill.

Good idea on the ottomans, thanks. The floor is the preferred place as the side of the dinette and the slide wall will place the tie downs off to the side too far for a tighter cinch.

The hold downs in the floor of my Laredo are the ones that a small D ring and a screw that goes into the floor. i am sure they were just zapped in there with a gun.

Anyhow it has two of them screwed right into the floor of the small slide. It has always been that way. i do use them to secure a recliner since that is not the normal sitting place for it and room is very limited with slides from both sides pulled in.

Are you sure you have to drill through the floor?

If your chairs were on the back wall, they would need to be secured, but I don't think the style pictured will be an issue, if over the axles, or forward. I'd put the ottoman in a forward, safe area, for travel.

These are fairly light zero gravity recliners, not the big lazy boy style.
