Repair canopy water seal.

We've ended up with a ripped/torn water seal to the rear window of our truck canopy/topper. This is a very soft, squishy type rubber, not the more usual harder rubber. I know that replacement is the ideal situation, but is there a commonly found adhesive that be used to repair and form a good seal? Thanks for any help.
  • I bought the black RTV silicone and put it on yesterday. It was difficult to get smooth as the damage was very ragged. It doesn't look too bad, as long as it seals it and doesn't leak, thats the main thing. Thanks again for you help Gjac.
  • Thanks, I can look for that. I did see on Youtube, people attaching that kind of strip with silcon RTV goop, so if I could get some that was black , it should work.

I bought a black automotive silicone adhesive years ago and fix some seals that looks like that. I black byutal caulk would work also.

The rubber, which is more like a very soft foam rubber. It needs to have the loose bits glued back together and the rough parts smoothed out.
  • A picture of the ripped/torn water seal and canopy/topper might help us visualize your problem and come up with a solution.
